82 years ago, the law ending Prohibition officially went into effect. Ever since, Americans have celebrated National Beer Day on April 7th. This year, I'm hoisting my glass to the many excellent breweries in Billings and across the great state of Montana.

I grew up in Colorado and came of drinking age during the dawn of the craft brew movement. It was a great time to be a beer lover. I've tried brews from all over the country and I can honestly say that there's a few spots here in Billings who rank among the best. Here's five cheers to some of my favorites.

Cheers to you, Angry Hank's. Although I miss your old location, your Irish Street Fight is as good as any beer I've ever tasted, and that's a bold statement.

Cheers to you, Carter's. I can make the walk from work and have a cold one in hand in less than five minutes. And I always find something new and surprising whenever I'm there.

Cheers to you, Uberbrew. Not only is your beer fantastic, but your kitchen is great too.

Cheers to you, Montana Brewing Company. If there's a better place to gather with friends in Billings, I haven't been there. And you can't go wrong with Fat Belly Amber.

Cheers to you Yellowstone Valley Brewing Company. Every woman I know loves the Huckleberry Hefeweizen and it's always fun watching live music in the old garage.

As a beer lover, I hope that someday the State of Montana will take a look at how other states across the country regulate microbreweries. It would sure be nice to get a decent beer after 9 p.m.
