Arrow producers have made no secret of the fact that tonight’s “Public Enemy” would completely change the DC drama as we know it, and by Grodd, they weren’t kidding. What more insanity can Arrow Season 3 offer after the central shock of tonight’s vigilante-busting “Public Enemy?”

You’re hereby warned of…pretty much every Arrow spoiler imaginable from this point forward, but suffice to say, Oliver’s private days of vigilantism in Starling City are seemingly over. As if Ra’s al Ghul smearing the Arrow’s reputation by slaying yet another mayor weren’t enough to get the point across, the Demon’s Head flat-out told Captain Lance of the vigilante’s secret identity, kicking off a city-wide manhunt that ended with Oliver Queen in handcuffs.

Of course, not simply content to let their leader take the fall, Roy suited up in his mentor’s green duds and publicly put a halt to the convoy carrying Oliver, defying orders in order to take the fall himself. How Starling City might take yet a second attempt to dissuade public knowledge of Oliver’s nighttime activities remains to be seen, but Captain Lance doesn’t seem to be comfortable with “hoods” in his town anymore, let alone “that freak in Central City.”

So, where on Grodd’s green earth could the series go from here? Even further spoilers to brace for here, but considering last night’s post “Tricksters” flash promo seemingly showcased a future teamup with Oliver clad in League of Assassins garb, we’d imagine Oliver has no choice to accept Ra’s al Ghul’s offer to head the organization, at least temporarily. Then again, considering all the timey-wimey shenanigans The Flash has been up to of late, we wouldn’t be surprised if either timeline gets a bit of a reboot before season 4.

Perhaps a third option, Arrow Season 4 goes full Iron Man, with Starling City and the world at large well aware of Oliver’s archer identity, finally ascending to a very public mantle as Starling City’s protector, the Green Arrow. Heck, with that insane mega teamup spinoff on the horizon, DC’s TV universe seems to be filling up with colorful characters, so what’s a billionaire with a bow and arrow to bat our eyelashes at?

‘But you involved me. You spent a year making me look like a fool. You spent a year making me your accomplice. Do you have any idea what you’ve done? What you’ve done to all of us, to the people you claim to care so much about? You’ve made us criminals, you’ve made us liars and victims! You, Mr. Queen, are not a hero. You’re a villain. But you know that, don’t you?’

- Captain Lance

We’ll bring the latest on Arrow Season 3's shocking “Public Enemy” twist, but did tonight’s hour blow up the show entirely? How should fans of the CW super-drama reconcile Oliver’s very public outing with our Flash future, the final 6 episodes, or Season 4 this fall?
