Have you ever wondered why big concerts often skip Billings on tour?  One of the reasons is because Metra Park hasn't promoted their own events in recent years.  Instead of trying to lure top tier talent to Billings, they would simply rent the venue to outside promoters who were willing to assume all the risk.  However, that's all about to change.

At a recent event to honor the great Sandra Hawke, who is retiring after 25 years as Metra Park's Director of Marketing, officials announced a "new direction".  The venue will now be more aggressive in recruiting major tours and will be open to the idea of promoting or co-promoting future events.

Metra Park has co-promoted events in the past, with mixed results.  One of the most successful events was the "Walking with the Dinosaurs" exhibit that drew over 20,000 during a week long run several years ago.  Let's hope this "new direction" is the beginning of bigger and better concerts here in Billings.
