Anthony Mackie Says The Falcon Will Fly Again in Future ‘Captain America’ Sequels

Marvel recently put ‘Captain America 3‘ into development with ‘Captain America 2‘ directors Joe and Anthony Russo back for more. While, naturally, details on what this next outing might look like are still too early to make out, we can safely assume that Anthony Mackie‘s Falcon will be a part of it.

Mackie is the one of the newest superhero additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making his grand debut alongside Chris Evans‘ Steve Rogers and Scarlett Johansson‘s Natasha Romanoff in ‘Captain America 2,’ which will see the trio banding together to fight “The Winter Soldier,” played by Sebastian Stan. Total Film recently debuted its Captain America magazine cover and all the goodies they picked up from visiting the set, some of which were details about Mackie’s character.

The actor’s main concern, he told the magazine (via CBM), was not looking like an idiot. But, as he went into detail about his superhero getup and its evolution, he dropped a more interesting tidbit:

The wings can look funny at times, so you have to do something to combat that – at no point in time do you want him to show up on film and have people laugh. That’s what we’ve been able to find, between the tactical suit and the Ultimate suit. As the franchise goes on and you see more of me and Captain America, the suit will evolve into the Ultimate look, the hard-leather black look. The suit that he has in this movie [‘Captain America 2′] is more of a military suit because it’s the first time you see it.

While this is not an official confirmation of the character’s return for ‘Captain America 3,’ it is not uncommon to see Marvel’s actors signing up for multiple pictures — as always seems to be the case with any Marvel film.

‘Captain America 2,’ officially titled ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ will see the Cap heading to Washington, D.C. with Agent Romanoff and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to face a shadowy threat — a genetically enhanced and brainwashed Bucky Barnes, who goes by the name The Winter Soldier.

It’s difficult to think of what’s farther down the road for Cap (even to a potential ‘Captain America 4′), as this film hasn’t even hit theaters yet — it will make its debut on April 4. But now’s the time for Marvelites to scour the comic book pages and speculate wildly.
