One of the season's biggest symbols can sure inspire some passion.

Yes, we're talking about Christmas trees. Specifically, whether or not you have a real or fake tree. A real one is wonderful in so many ways: there's something traditional and fun about picking out your own tree, like you're taking part in a ritual so many others have done before you. They're also relatively easy to set up. Heck, placing a tree in the house just makes it smell like Christmas. And when you're done with it, just place it on the curb.

The downside? You've got a dying tree in your house, needles falling on the floor, sap, you should water it and it can't stay up as a long as a fake tree. Plus, there's the cost of buying a tree year after year.

Fake trees? Well, there's no muss, no fuss. They're all set up and it's a one-time purchase. It's like a pre-made starter kit for Christmas where there is no rush to put it up or take it down. And when you're done with it, it just goes back in the box where you store it until next year. The negatives here? It ain't real, you need room to store it and it can somehow feel like you're cheating Christmas by taking a shortcut.
