Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon just did the opening monologue for 'SNL's' 40th anniversary special and, of course, it was insanely epic.

In the approximately five-minute opener, Timberlake and Fallon managed to fit in a crazy amount of past Saturday Night Live references, including JT/The Lonely Island jams like "The Chronic-what-cles of Narnia" and "D--- in a Box" (a fan favorite ever since Timberlake first debuted that alluring package.) And they did it all through song, even donning sunglasses and fedoras a la the Blues Brothers and Timberlake impersonating Christopher Walken's "more cowbell" in all of its glorious necessity. (Because really, what is SNL without multiple "we need more cowbell" references?)

And if the epic duo of Timberlake/Fallon wasn't enough for ya in your opening monologue, some of our all-time favorite SNL characters also made an appearance during the crazy epic opener. We're talking about the persistently depressed Debby Downer (Rachel Dratch) and the armpit-sniffing Mary Katherine Gallagher (Molly Shannon), who pretty much made our entire lives when she joined Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon in screaming her catchphrase "Superstahhh!" (Cue dropping down on one knee and raising your arms in sweet, sweet victory.) Talk about a '90s throwback.

Okay, 'SNL' fans: What did you think of Fallon and Timberlake's opener? Re-live the awesomeness by checking out Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake's epic 'Saturday Night Live' 40th Anniversary monologue in the video above.
