Lindsay Lohan, who's been studying The Koran for years, claims she was recently racially profiled at an airport for wearing a headscarf, and says the experience has more deeply shaped her empathy for Muslim women.

During an interview with Good Morning Britain this morning (February 21), Lohan recalled a recent incident at a security checkpoint during which she was stopped for her choice of dress. She said she had been wearing the headscarf in Turkey as a sign of solidarity with the Turkish people.

"When I was flying to New York recently I was wearing a headscarf and I got stopped at the airport and was racially profiled for the first time in my life," she told co-hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid. "[The agent] opened my passport and saw Lindsay Lohan and started apologizing but said, 'Take off your headscarf.'"

Lohan said the experience shook her, and said even as a "born and raised" New Yorker, she felt "intimidated."

"What scared me was, in that moment, how would another woman who doesn't feel comfortable taking off her headscarf feel?" she added. "That was really interesting to me. I was kind of shocked. It was jarring."

Her epiphany considered, Lohan somehow urged the American people to ease up on President Donald Trump, famous for enacting an American "Muslim Ban," and said he still deserves a chance to govern. Evidently, she hadn't considered that the judgment she received at the airport might have been an extension of the sentiment perpetuated by Trump's policy, and his murky past of racially-problematic actions and remarks.

"People are being dramatic," she said. "I just think, don't kick people when they're down."
