As we take in the news of the day, we typically encounter references to large amount of money:  $5.6 Billion for a wall, Jeff Bezos's $146 Billion net worth, $21 trillion national debt.  We know those are big numbers, but how big?  Most of us can't truly fathom a billion dollars, much less a trillion.

If you look at these figures as time, you might find them more relatable - and shocking.  One million seconds in the past translates to about 11.5 days -  One billion seconds and we're back in 1987.
