AMC's 'The Walking Dead' always makes for a good laugh outside of its zombie horror, as the internet allows fandom the opportunity to parody its more ridiculous aspects. Now however, the series appears to have taken matters into its own hands, tasking stars Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln to promote the show in Japan with a series of baffling commercials. Plus, find out what absurd change NBC wanted to make to 'The Walking Dead' before landing on AMC!

Brought to our attention by Blastr, it seems actors Reedus and Lincoln donned kimonos to preview the fourth season's return to FOX Japan, the latter twirling around a personal fan while Reedus plays with an arrow. Perhaps more bizarrely, the second promo features the two dramatically sipping tea, before apparently disappearing into thin air.

Fortunately for us, those aren't the only bits of 'Walking Dead' ridiculousness going around today, as Uproxx shared a bizarre bit of news from creator Robert Kirkman on the latest episode of Sundance's 'The Writers Room.' We'd known that 'The Walking Dead' had originally been pitched to the likes of NBC and HBO, but it seems NBC in particular had a unique note that feels perfectly in line with their usual creative influences:

[The Walking Dead] actually did almost get made at NBC. It didn’t get made because when the pilot was turned in, the famous story is one of the executives said, ‘This is awesome. I really love this. Does it have to have zombies in it?

Right. Well, we've plenty of time and casting announcements between now and the debut of 'The Walking Dead' season 5 trailer at Comic-Con 2014, but a bit of absurdity from either NBC or Japan never hurt anyone.
