Experience has taught us that 'The Walking Dead' season 5 will premiere its first official trailer during the Comic-Con 2014 panel this coming July, but you won't need to wait that long (or even attend) for a first look at the new season. Find out when AMC will premiere a brand-new first look at 'The Walking Dead' season 5 with a new 'Talking Dead' special to follow a series-long marathon!

As announced over at 'Talking Dead' host Chris Hardwick's Nerdist, AMC will begin a “Dead, White, and Blue” marathon weekend on Friday, July 4, airing every episode from all four seasons beginning at 9:00 A.M. It all leads up to a brand-new 'Talking Dead' special on July 6 at 9:00 P.M., starring Hardwick, showrunner Scott Gimple and 'Archer''s Aisha Tyler, and featuring a first look at the show’s hotly anticipated fifth season.

Additionally, July 8 will see AMC debuting the first of two 'Walking Dead' documentaries, featuring interviews with cast and crew and new behind-the-scenes footage. Here's how the network describes the new specials:

Inside The Walking Dead – Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00pm ET/PT

This one-hour documentary will showcase how this remarkable series is made. The executive producers will discuss the process of mapping out the show and viewers will hear from all of the key production departments – from production design and special effects to costumes and makeup – about their role in crafting the world of The Walking Dead.

Inside The Walking Dead: Walker University –Tuesday, July 15 at 10:00pm ET/PT

AMC’s second doc will follow the journey from extra to walker. Viewers will learn that there is much more to becoming part of the living dead than just make-up, and will get an inside perspective on the choreography, acting and motivation behind each zombie, including a look at what takes place at The Walking Dead’s own Zombie School.

Elsewhere, we know of ‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 that existing stars Christian Serratos (Rosita), Alanna Masterson (Tara) and Andrew J. West (Gareth) have all been upgraded to series regulars, while ‘The Wire‘ star Seth Gilliam joined in a role all-but-confirmed to be that of comic preacher Gabriel Stokes. The fifth season of AMC’s monster-drama is expected to pick up immediately after the events of season 4 finale “A,” and will eventually divulge the fates of missing characters Beth, Carol, Tyreese and Judith.

We'll be on hand to cover 'The Walking Dead' season 5 straight from Comic-Con 2014, but in the meantime, what say you? Will you tune in to AMC's "Dead, White and Blue" marathon over the July 4 weekend, or at least check out the first official season 5 preview on July 6? Tell us what you want to see from the new season of AMC's 'The Walking Dead' in the comments!
