When children get tucked in at night, they are left with a feeling of being safe, secure and loved. However, for some families, that feeling of security can be elusive. Many children in Yellowstone County face uncertain days with parents who are battling addiction and mental illness.

The Center for Children and Families works to improve the safety and well-being of children while building resilience and strengthening families so that every child can have that feeling of security when they are tucked in at night.

The idea of children being safely tucked in at night was the inspiration behind the organization's "Dream Beds for Kids Event." The concept is simple: a team of bed builders comes together to design, build, decorate and assemble a “dream bed” for a child. The beds are displayed at Center Court in Rimrock Mall for about a week, where the public can then purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win the bed of their choice.

All the money raised during the event goes toward operating expenses at the Center. While the event is a large fundraiser for the Center, it also helps to raise awareness of the agency and what it does.

This year, Bed Builders include: Billings Area Family Violence Task Force, Connect Group, Gabriel’s Toys and Superheros of Montana,  Kelly Services and Phillip Fields,  and KLJ Engineering, as well as a group of friends of the Center.  Other donors to the fundraiser include American Water, Paul Bellinger Photography, Connoisseur Media, Copywrite Printing, Mattress Land USA, Once Source Lighting , Signature Signs, Cat Country 102.9, The Hawk 103.7, PopCrush 97.1, KBUL News Talk 95.5, Townsquare Media and others.

On Friday, Oct. from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Center will have its pre-drawing celebration. The Superheros of Montana are planning on making an appearance, and Paul Bellinger Photography will be on hand to take photographs of children with their favorite superheros.

There will be a live broadcast on PopCrush 97.1.

The event ends with a drawing on Saturday, Oct. 10 to determine the winners of the dream beds.
