We've reached that point in the year when all of your co-workers are burning up the remainder of their vacation time.  I'm all out of time this year, so I don't have to worry about the "use it or lose it" policy that seems to be the way most employers handle it.

One time, I had worked for this company for a number of years, to the point where I was earning three weeks of vacation per year. Well, 15 days, but if you count the weekends, then it was three weeks off.  We were so busy most of the year that when November rolled around I still had a ton of vacation time to use or lose. So, I took off every Monday and Friday for two months. It worked out even better because of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday days were in there too.  I literally worked three days a week - or less - for about two months. It. Was. Awesome. My boss, HR and co-workers weren't thrilled with my scheme, but nothing in the handbook prevented it.

How about you? Got any extra days you're trying to burn up? Why don't you win $5,000 in our ATM Overload Contest and use those days to go somewhere WARM! Stick a drink in your hand and call it good.

Next time,

Michael
