It's never easy when you lose someone you admire, music is such a big part of culture and our lives. Today was one of the hardest days. David Bowie lost his 18 month battle with cancer.

I remember when I was young hearing Bowie for my first time thinking it was so psychedelic yet memorizing. Being raised by my grandmother meant I already was listening to a bit of the older generation of music. I've always been a classic rock lover and even though some put Bowie in the category of Pop I also put him in the Classic category.

He was born David Jones but because the Monkees lead singer Davy Jones was big he didn't want to be confused so Bowie came about.

Also considered to have one of the longest celebrity marriages and happiest. Married for 24 years to Iman.

One of my dear friends and I have had plans for the last 5 or 6 years to try and travel and see Bowie in concert. Which was hard as he didn't perform as much during that time and was on sort of a hiatus.

A good friend of mine Toby Scott who has been in the music business  a long time and knew Bowie through that reminded me to not be sad but remember the joy his music brought me.

Thank you David Bowie, Ziggy Stardust and the Man from Mars. Long live Bowie
