Apparently it had been a while since I had been on Central Ave. west of 24th because I was shocked on Wednesday to see how far the new Krispy Kreme had come along. I'm not sure how this location will work for them (like I said, it had been quite a while since I had driven that way); however I know some Krispy Kreme super fans that would drive an hour to get an original glazed right when it comes out of the grease.

I have great memories of having a doughnut (or three) with my dad at one of the original Krispy Kreme restaurants in Spartanburg, SC. So even though these things are pretty much the opposite of the food I consume with Go Figure, I have to eat at least one for old time's sake.

My other Krispy Kreme memory is when some people in Knoxville, Tennessee tried to get Krispy Kreme to remove their "Hot Doughnut" sign, because it was allegedly causing traffic accidents. According to the complainers, when Krispy Kreme illuminated their sign to let people know the hot doughnuts were ready, people would slam on their brakes and make a hard left across oncoming traffic into the parking lot. Not only do they still use the sign, there is of course now "an app for that".
