This definitely isn't me trying to start the gun control conversation but maybe a conversation about gun safety? I understand the man (see news story below) thought there was an altercation going on outside but you can't just go outside and point a gun at people and shoot into the street! This kind of recklessness with a gun is the reason this gun debate will be never ending. I understand the violence behind a lot of killings but there are a lot of shootings that can be prevented with a little less carelessness.

KCTR Newsroom - A 72-year-old man with a gun confronted three teenage girls and a juvenile boy who were walking their dogs on a neighborhood street Saturday night in the Heights.  The armed senior citizen fired a round into the street and may have pointed the weapon at the children, according to the Billings Police Department.

The minor teenage girls said they had been walking two dogs with a male friend and turned onto Caroline Street, where two of them live, when the armed man emerged, saying he thought there was a disturbance. After a verbal exchange, he fired a shot from a 9 mm handgun into the street.  The girls told police that he then pointed the gun at them, and they ran away screaming. A female resident opened her door and told them to come inside. The man was later arrested on four counts of assault with a weapon.
