My family and I have been in Billings now for the greater part of a year. In talking with my wife and kids we have all decided that this is a town we would like to be in for the long haul.

From reading past blogs you have probably seen that we have lived in various different parts of the country. Each one of those places has something beneficial to offer but none have had everything, or even the majority of everything we have looked for.

That was until now.

Billings has a lot to offer.

  • Not too big yet not too small
  • Four seasons
  • Wildlife of all kinds
  • Kind, down-to-arth people
  • All the restaurants and shopping we need

I could go on but these are the basics that are very important to us.

With that said, my wife and I have been talking about buying a house. It's a big decision because neither of us have owned a home since we first married almost 10 years ago.

There are a good number of homes in and around the Magic City that we would want to buy. The problem is, just like the cities we have lived in, there are a lot of things we like but others we wished we could have when it comes to each home.

We figured to make it right, we may need to build and would like to do so within the next year.

We met with a home builder over the weekend just to get an idea of what we could do and what costs would be to achieve this goal.

Surprisingly enough, this isn't out of our reach and could come right in time.

Have you ever built a home? What was your experience like? Would you ever consider building one?
