I have been in a few stores now, that I won't mention, that already have Halloween costumes and decoration out. WHAT?! I have worked retail before and I get it... You have to be a whole season ahead. I'll be the first to admit that I love Summer but I'm starting to get that feeling. You know. The feeling where one day you want to swear a sweater and booties and not sandals. It's the beginning of the transition even though it's still 95 degrees outside.

Mind you, I grew up in Oregon and then lived in Seattle. So, honestly, now is about the time that Fall starts to get in. The mornings are beginning to be a little crisper. The sun is starting to set later. Farmers are starting to harvest their crops. It's just what it is in the Pacific Northwest.  I absolutely love Fall and can't wait for it to get here.

BUT... but. It is still August. It's hot as heck and the kids aren't even back to school yet! And Halloween is still a whole two and half months away. We don't need princess or ninja outfits out. I still need bug spray and sunscreen! I think this is part of the reason why it is so hard to teach people and especially children to live in the moment and in the present because as a society, on a large scale, we promote the future, buying for the future and living in the future.

Like I said, I can't wait for the first crisp day of Fall... but for now, I am going to soak up the sun and warm weather and memories while I can! No thoughts of Halloween until October rolls around!
