I'm pretty positive that it's been advised against since the beginning of time but who the heck actually listens?!  As if childhood hasn't already been ruined for the new generation, they now want to take away the joys of licking the bottom of the bowl and the spatula!

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in an article released this week that raw egg, containing salmonella, isn't necessarily the worry... the raw flour is.  It can contain E. coli and that has been linked to 38 infections since December.  Flour is produced from a raw grain picked out of fields, which can be open to animal waste. That grain is not treated from things like that, so that grain is made straight to flour and can be contaminated until baked, fried or basically cooked! GROSS!

Apparently symptoms for adults can be as simple as stomach cramping and diarrhea but it can be particularly dangerous for children and the elderly.  I don't know about you, but I like to live dangerously! At least when it comes to my cookie eating! I don't know if I will be passing along the cookie dough when given the chance. I may need to just take my chances.
