The In Memoriam tribute at the 2015 Oscars proved to be an incredibly sad one, as it tends to be, reminding us of all the talented people we lost from the last awards show up until this one. Huge names and influences that extend beyond Hollywood and into all fields of creativity like James Garner, Maya Angelou, Mickey Rooney, Edward Hermann, Richard Attenborough, Robin Williams, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Lauren Bacall -- just to name a few -- spilled across our screens, alongside a sketch of the person. It was touching without being overly sentimental, and a fitting tribute to some truly spectacular talents whose loss will be felt by the entertainment world for years to come.

Jennifer Hudson then took the stage to perform "I Can't Let Go," an original song from the television show Smash. Wearing a long, black velvet dress with intricate, black beading along the very top, Jennifer delivered a moving performance fitting for the moment. The lyrics that open the song, "They say nothing lasts forever / Well, I wish that that were true / Cause this aching in my heart won't go away," are sad enough on their own, but when you combine it with the emotion Jennifer poured into her performance, it was hard to keep it together.
