Kate Moss Invokes the ‘Ritual Spirit’ In New Massive Attack Video

Since making their debut the late '80s, trip-hop maestros Massive Attack have reinvented the wheel of experimental electronic hip-hop time and time again. Their third studio album, Mezzanine, became a benchmark for the genre, hitting No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart and getting platinum certified. Today, it's still considered one of the most required listens in the electronic genre.

On January 28, the iconic, genre-defining English group dropped new music in the form of a 4-track EP titled Ritual Spirit. Today (March 17), they unleashed the cinematic video for the EP's titular track, an artistically-charged micro-film featuring Kate Moss doing what she does best: looking damn good.

To be fair, Moss does a bit more than just look unattainably-hot in the "Ritual Spirit" video. Illuminated only by a single raw construction light, she dances in the dark—her leotard-swathed body gracefully gyrating as if in a trance, the track's hypnotic beats signaling the iconic supermodel to motion.

Directed by Robert "3D" Del Naja, Dusan Reljin and Hilde Pettersen Reljin, the video was filmed freestyle in a West London studio. Del Naja tells Dazed, "When [Dusan] suggested working with Kate I was a little nervous, as we’ve been friends for a long time and I didn't want to complicate things, you know. Kate has worked with a lot of artists over the years, and has been exploited by a few.”

Luckily, Moss—a self-admitted "huge fan" of the band and who has appeared in music videos for the likes of Elton John, The White Stripes, and George Michael—was up for the challenge of invoking the spirit.

"When he asked me to collaborate with him, I didn’t have to think twice," she shared with the magazine. "I always thought their visuals were amazing and I was proud to be in this video."
