KISS Castaways Contest: Day 1 Recap [Photos]

The KISS Castaways contest has begun and our contestants are doing pretty good so far! Who's going to win the $2,000? Too early to tell at this point but each contestant definitely has their own personal advantage whether it be age, outdoor skills or being a parent! Want to meet all the $2,000 hopefuls? Contestants checked in at 3:45pm Friday afternoon. The only items they were allowed to bring with them was a small bag with a book or magazine, pillow, towel, sleeping stuff like a sleeping bag or blanket and sunscreen. They could only bring the clothes they were wearing and probably the hardest part.... had to hand over their cell phones! KISS is providing food, water and shelter. They are seriously living in a sandpit in the middle of the fair. We weren't joking when we said 4 days and 3 nights!

First competition on Friday was a team challenge. Jordan and Cam vs Katie and Kimberlee in a game of Washer Toss. Looks easy.... but trust us, it definitely wasn't!

Katie and Kimberlee were victorious and won the first challenge!

After the girls won the first challenge, they were given an advantage in the next challenge. The challenge was to use a fire starter kit and wood chips to get a fire going within 20 minutes. Survivor skills at its finest! The only twist in the challenge was that you had to wear oven mites! The fire starter kit is EASY so we needed to make it a little more difficult. The team that won could choose to try and start the fire OR make the other team do it. The goal here is to know your opponent. IF you know your team can do it and you have the choice to take the challenge and if you are successful then you win. IF you think the other team can't, then you could give them the challenge and if they loss, you win or vice versa.

Well, the girls who won decided to take the challenge. Unfortunately, they didn't get the fire going, even though they had a lot of sparks! The team made up of Aaron and Cam got time off the island and also tickets to the Jason Derulo concert. Katie and Kimberlee had to stay on the island and put up all the shelter!
