The Pickle Barrel, a restaurant well-loved in the Magic City has been sold, and the new owner has decided to close the shop this coming Saturday (07/16) after many years of service. With many who say Pickle Barrel has their favorite sandwiches, what caused the sale of the restaurant, and what will it become?

The original Pickle Barrel location was opened in Bozeman in 1974 and expanded to include Livingston and Billings locations as well as a Sioux Falls, SD location. Their hot sandwiches are well-known to everyone, including me. However, they also serve cold sandwiches and salads.

In May of last year, it was found that the owner had put the Pickle Barrel up for sale, and many feared that the closure of their favorite sandwich shop was coming soon. Unfortunately, the shop was indeed sold, and it will not be re-opened, at least according to rumors.

Rumors Indicate a New Tea Shop

There are rumors on social media that the new owners plan on turning the restaurant into a tea shop, however, this rumor has not been confirmed as of yet. Regardless, the Pickle Barrel will become another local restaurant that will close in the city, much like Cafe Zydeco in April. The cause of the sale is unknown.

Here's hoping the other Pickle Barrel restaurants in Montana are safe because I think I may travel to Bozeman just to get one of their sandwiches at some point.
