MSU Bozeman Reveals ‘Roadmap’ for Fall Semester

Montana State University in Bozeman released a report yesterday (6/10) that laid out a detailed plan for the fall academic season.

According to the press release from MSU, the goal of this "roadmap" is putting specific steps in place for "reconstituting and restoring full operations" on the MSU Bozeman campus.

Montana State University switched from in-person classes to remote delivery of instruction after Spring Break concluded for students, following the public health emergency being declared a pandemic in early March.

The fall semester at MSU Bozeman is now planned to run Monday, Aug. 17, through Wednesday, Nov. 25, according to the report.

This roadmap document serves to focus our collective attention on specific actions and new routines we can all practice as we return to campus this summer and fall. Irrespective of college, department, office or unit, the report asks everyone who lives, works and sets foot on the MSU campus — students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends — to participate in new, adaptive institutional practices aimed squarely at reducing the risk of infection for as many people as possible. Making the most of the guidance — and, in some cases, strong recommendations — in this report will require deliberate and collaborative work from us all.

On top of having hand sanitizer refill stations available throughout campus, all students, faculty, and staff will receive the MSU Clean 'Cat Kits when arriving for the fall semester. These kits will provide personal sanitation items, face mask, and other tools that will "empower the campus community to take personal action to protect themselves."

COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, and wastewater testing are also part of Montana State University's roadmap. The report also says enhanced cleaning protocols, new maximum seating capacities, and lengthening of the academic day will be part of the university's strategy to keep students and faculty safe.
