Having an entire food festival dedicated to one of our country's most popular ingredients is a fool proof plan. Throw in some of the best chefs in town competing for the top bacon dish and you end up with booth after booth of bacon goodness. I'm not one of those bacon crazy people (the kind who wear bacon lip balm or bacon flavored edible underwear), but I can tell you that last year I ate my fill of some of the most creative bacon dishes I'd ever seen.

One of my favorites was actually extremely simple: Candied Bacon. Salty, smokey, sweet deliciousness.

And of course, the winner from last year: Stacked. They had some amazing deviled eggs that I have yet to duplicate at home. I'm not sure if Stacked will be in the competition again this year or not, but I do know that these award winning eggs were worth the price of admission.

I'm not the best food photographer, but I promise you those eggs were amazing and Stacked got hundreds of crowd favorite votes to back that statement up.

We have some talented chefs in Billings and I can't wait to see what they create for Bacon Fest this year. If you plan on attending, stop by any Shiptons (Big R West, Downtown or Heights) to get your tickets. They go on sale this Saturday, October 1st.  The event happens at Metra Park on 11/19.
