Thanks to My Obsession with My New Smart Watch, the Joke Was on Me
I blogged a while back about how I got a sweet new smart watch for Christmas and how awesome it is. Now that I've been using it for a month, it still is pretty awesome. One feature I originally dismissed was the health tracker app; it tracks heart rate and how many steps per day I've taken, among other things. Not for me, I thought. Not an athlete. I'll never use it.
OMG... I have now become totally obsessed by the step tracker!!! MUST. GET. MORE. STEPS! The watch wants you to walk 6,000 steps per day. When I first got it, I thought it meant PER WEEK. Ha! I was like, "Wow, this is easy! I'm getting over 2,500 per day". No, Michael, you idiot. 6,000 PER DAY. It turns out I've only hit that fairly weak achievement three times. In over a month.
So, what does this have to do with the weird picture that says "Go laugh your head off"? Ok. I wanted to get my steps in, so I decided to take the stairs for the last 6 floors to our studio. Got off on the 17th floor and started hoofing it up to the 23rd. Almost to the top, huffing a little, I see this graffiti on the step. Weird, I think, but whatever. I go to open the door at the 23rd floor and that's when I read the sign that says floors 17-23, THESE DOORS ARE LOCKED. Ahhh... I get it now. Back down I go. Laughing my head off.
