Here in Billings we are considered, by the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, to be park the 'Eastern District.' Any lake, reservoir, stream or river that falls in our district is open for us to fish all year long. However, the 'Western District' which includes Butte, Missoula and Kalispell (and surrounding) have a season when it comes to river and stream fishing.

While lake and reservoir fishing are open in the Western District all year long, stream and river fishing open this Saturday (third Saturday in May) and closes November 30.  So, if some of your favorite fishing spots are rivers or streams in the Western District then you can get out your poles and all the gear and get it ready!

There are exceptions to some of these rules and you can find all the info you need about fishing regulations, seasons, districts, etc on the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks website!
