Sky Ferreira’s ‘Oops!’ Choreography Will Give You 2000 Britney Flashbacks
A new Sky Ferreira track might be just around the corner, but the Masochism singer took a moment to stroll through pop's past on Thursday (January 14).
Ferreira, whose Instagram typically includes shots of Wednesday Addams or outtakes from moody photo shoots, went all-in on a Throwback Thursday post that found her performing choreography from Britney Spears' iconic "Oops!... I Did It Again" video. And the fact that she exacts the routine in a red sequined top — not unlike Spears' red latex suit — is icing on the cake.
"TBT: @britneyspears OOPS I DID IT AGAIN," Ferreira captioned the video above, in which she convincingly flips her hair back and forth and connects her hands in heart-shapes over her chest. She's completely committed until a friend starts to giggle out of frame, but quickly collects herself, and notes: "It's Britney, bitch." Next stop: Vegas residency?
While "Oops!" is showy bubblegum pop at its pinkest, Ferreira told Beat magazine in November 2015 that Masochism will be a noticeably reserved and personal project.
"There are songs about being self-destructive, you know, or being around things that aren’t good for you, but it’s about realizing that I don’t have to feel miserable," she said. "I always thought I had to suffer for it to be real or feel good. But that’s not always the case. I went through this stage of being numb because I was exhausted from people making me feel bad about feeling things."
