Soldier From Billings Dies In Iraq
The Department of Defense confirmed today (10/30) that Sgt. Nathaneil G. Irish, 23 of Billings, died in Iraq on Sunday, October 27.
According to the DOD, Irish was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve and died "of a non-combat related incident at Camp Taji, Iraq." There will be an investigation into the incident, according to the press release.
The Facebook page for Nathan Irish shows he attended Billings Senior High School until 2013, and was currently serving in the U.S. Army while living in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Quoting Department of Defense casualty figures, the Wounded Warriors Family Support Facebook page reported "86 U.S. military personnel have died supporting Inherent Resolve; 69 of those deaths have occurred in non-hostile conditions."
