People pay thousands of dollars for fancy designer dogs every day. That is certainly their prerogative, but do expensive breeds make better pets? Probably not. Some of the best dog buddies you'll ever own are "mutts", right? Billings' featured Wet Nose Wednesday Pet of the Week is pure mutt, and he's really sweet.

'Peyote' is ready to adopt today at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.

This one-year-old mixed-breed male dog came to the shelter as a stray about a month ago. Initially, he didn't thrive in the shelter setting, so he spent a few weeks with one of the foster homes that YVAS utilizes to help dogs (and cats) become ready to adopt.

Peyote is listed as part Labrador on his bio, but that's just a guess. Regardless of his genetic pedigree, this fun pup loves to play. He's energetic and happy and just wants to be by your side (or on your lap) where he can sneak quick dog kisses to his heart's content. He knows how to sit on command and absolutely loves people. A little on the thin side, we figure he deserves to be spoiled with treats and lots of large bowls of dog food.

Update on Kakashi, last week's featured pet.

He's been adopted! We love hearing this. Almost all of our Wet Nose Wednesday dogs end up in loving homes, which warms our hearts. Thank you to Shipton's Big R for supporting pet adoption in the Billings area.
