Piper is our featured Wet Nose Wednesday adoptable pet from Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter. She’s an eight-year-old Collie mix with beautiful black and white markings. Piper is super sweet and eager to please.

She’s smart and playful.

After a moment of shyness when she entered our studios Wednesday morning, Piper quickly relaxed and developed a case of the zoomies, zipping from person to person, dodging in for quick kisses, and exploring every nook and corner. She’s quite active for an 8-year-old dog and loves walks, car rides, kids, and other animals like cows. A befitting trait for a cowdog. However, she likes to chase cats and would do best in a feline-free household.

A limited number of dog adoption scholarships are available.

Pet adoptions typically drop around Christmas time, for obvious reasons. People are traveling, schedules are wonky, we’re busy making cookies and wrapping presents, etc. The holidays are busy. Derek Wulf, Humane Outreach Coordinator at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter said the shelter is currently full-to-capacity on dogs and they also have a lot of cats. Browse all the pets currently up for adoption at the shelter HERE

To help spur adoptions, a donor has generously donated money to cover the cost of ten dog adoptions (first come, first served). If the cost of adoption is the only thing holding you back from adopting a furry friend, don’t dally on this offer.

Can’t adopt right now?

Maybe you’ve got a houseful of pets already but would like to help YVAS during the season of giving. They always need paper towels and wet cat food. You can volunteer your time at YVAS, you could be a foster home for special pets while they’re getting ready for adoption, OR you can stop by any of these locations listed below and grab an ornament off one of the shelters Giving Trees. They’re all over town and will likely be up through January 1st
